There has always been controversy about where the south side of Chicago begins,
But what is known for sure is that the south side is full of history. Each neighborhood hold a special piece of history. Grand Boulevard area which has land marks of the Robert s Abbott house, and the Swift House. Bridgeport has the old Speigel office building. Hyde Park have the Arthur H Compton house, East Park Towers, The Flamingo-on-the-lake apartments, and Isadore Heller house. The Douglas neighborhood houses the John W Griffins mansion, the Eighth Regiment Armory, and the Douglas Tomb State Memorial. Kenwood area has the Narragansett, the Kenwood Evangelical Church, and is also home to President Barak and Michelle Obama. Jackson Park will soon house President Obama’s library.
The south side of Chicago is host to the Du Sable Museum, Science and Industry, University of Chicago, South Shore Cultural Center, and many more. It offers beautiful parks, like Drexel Park and Washington Park where you can find The Great Fountain of Time.
It may have been questions about where the south side begins, but there’s no question about the value that each neighborhood holds.
